2 Tips to Sex Yourself Up With Sleep

If you’ve been hoping for a good excuse to add some more sleep-time to your schedule, here’s some happy news.  A huge new study of older women shows that the better the quality of their sleep the better their sexual performance.   Though this study focused on older women, we all know that even in your 20s and 30s (and especially if you have kids or stressful careers), lack of sleep can really mess with your sex life.

Usually,  it’s because the day’s chores and responsibilities have worn you to a frazzle and you have no energy left for sexy time.  But lack of sleep has more subtle symptoms too.  It can turn you grumpy (as in “don’t even touch me”), put you on a suspicious edge (as in “he said he came home right after work but did he really?”), or make you feel resentful (as in “if he thinks I’m putting on those fucking heels….!”).

We’ve all been there and the scientific explanation is… we are tired and cranky.

So don’t take it lying down.  I mean, go lie down and give your body the rest it needs, when it needs it.  Your sex life will thank you.

⚡ Napsturbation:

Though naps aren’t a substitute for a solid night’s rest, they definitely can help perk up your sex drive in a hurry.  My favorite technique to pass out and wake up feeling sexier is “napsturbation.”  A quick orgasm (by hand, vibrator or other favorite method), followed by at least 30-40 minutes sleep.  Best time is late afternoon or before dinner so it doesn’t disrupt your regular sleep cycle.  If you can’t fall asleep, pretend to sleep: close your eyes, relax your body, stay still, and daydream about something beautiful.  It’s an incredible refresher and will NOT dull your desire if you want to have sex later that night.

 

⚡ Morning Rapture:

Instead of waiting until the very end of the day to have sex, reverse your sex schedule by planning to have sex first thing in the morning.  Sex is less exhausting than a gym work-out, and just as good for the cardio system, so you’ll feel fit and ready to go.  If you want to have extended morning sex, set your alarm for it.   But know that at the end of the day, when you have used up your last molecule of strength, you and your love can curl up in nurturing sleep with smiles on your faces — because you will be waking up to love and intimacy and energetic orgasms in the morning.
